'Tuhog' Gives New Meaning to Drama and Comedy in Pinoy Movies

After its very successful, star-studded celebrity screening held recently,  Skylight Films' drama-comedy movie masterpiece "Tuhog," starring Enchong Dee, Jake Cuenca, Empress, Leo Martinez and Eugene Domingo, will open on cinemas nationwide this Wednesday (July 14).

Part of ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc.'s 20th anniversary celebration and directed by award-winning director Venorica "Ronnie" Velasco, "Tuhog" is a heartwarming yet funny tale of connected lives of three people who are all going through tough times--Fiesta (Eugene), a woman who lost hope on life because she thought that nobody loves her; Caloy (Enchong), a impetuous teenager who is so excited to try everything; and Tonio (Leo), a senior citizen, who believes that time is running out but still excited to live out his dream.

According to Eugene, everyone in their team is so proud of "Tuhog" because it imparts a fresh and brave narrative that covers different movie genres and can be appreciated by moviegoers of all ages and of varying taste.

"Talagang natuhog ng 'Tuhog' ang lahat ng posibleng istorya ng bawat tao. Puwedeng ikaw, kaibigan mo, mga magulang mo, o 'yung mga nakakasalubong mo lang araw-araw, said Eugene who takes pride in the sincerity of the drama and the situational comedy featured in their movie. "Lahat tayo matatamaan sa mga karakter dito sa 'Tuhog' dahil lahat tayo ay napagdaanan na o napagdadaanan kung anong naramdaman ng mga bida kasi lahat tayo may hinihintay na mangyari sa mga buhay natin."

Leo, meanwhile, considers "Tuhog" extra special because it is his first ever 'indie' film. "Nung nalaman ko 'yung role natuwa ako kasi ibang-iba siya sa mga nagawa ko na," explained Leo, who believes that Fiesta, Caloy and Tonio's story will serve as an eye-opener for many moviegoers. "Ang tema ng kamatayan is universal naman. Whatever stage of life you’re in, death is just around the corner. Hindi mo alam kung kelan dadating ang katapusan kaya dapat ready ka to face your maker anytime."

Like Leo and Eugene, Enchong learned a lot while working on their controversial movie. The versatile Kapamilya actor specifically realized how great it is to remain a good man amid trials.

"Hangga't maaari, i-disregard natin 'yung mga masasamang bagay sa paligid. Let’s just dwell on the things that we love, that make us happy, and that will make our lives worthwhile," said Enchong, who portrays the virgin boyfriend of Angel (Empress). "Never let yourself lose the best of you in times of the worst. Kung alam mong mabuti kang tao huwag mong hayaan na maging masama ka dahil lang may nangyaring pangit sa buhay mo."

How will a vehicular accident connect the lives of three people literally and figuratively? How will Fiesta, Tonio, and Caloy ‘disconnect’ from each other even if this means death for one of them?

Also part of "Tuhog" are Noel Trinidad, Ariel Ureta, Nikki Valdez, Carla Martinez, Maliksi Morales, Kitkat, Beauty Gonzales, Rodjun Cruz, Eda Nolan, Bodjie Pascual, Meggie Cobarrubias, Jon Achiaval, Manuel Chua, Nor Domingo, Hyubs Azarcon, Nico Antonio, Allyzon Lualhati, Joe Vargas and Nicco Manalo.  Dimples Romana has a special participation in the film.

Don’t dare miss Skylight Films’ one-of-a-kind drama about dream, life and love, watch “Tuhog” showing on cinemas nationwide this Wednesday (July 17).
