Restored Film 'Himala' Makes Its World Premiere at the Venice Film Fest

To mark the 30th anniversary of the classic by Ishmael Bernal, the restore version of the film “Himala” will have its world premiere at the prestigious 69th Venice International Film Festival that begun on August 29 and will run until September 8 at the Venice Lido. Along with other restored classics, the 1982 film starring Nora Aunor will be screened in the program titled “Venizia Classici”. The restored High-Definition version of the film is also slated for release close to the end of the year in local cinemas. “We are planning to re-release it theatrically, on pay TV and cable as well as on DVD. We have big plans for it,” said Leo Katigbak, head of ABS-CBN Film Archives Meanwhile, the team is working on another classic “Oro, Plata, Mata”, and some Star Cinema films like Olivia Lamasan’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya” and “Madrasta”; Laurice Guillen’s “Tanging Yaman”; Rory Quintos’ “Anak”; Marilou Diaz-Abaya’s “Bagong Buwan”; and Chito Roño’s “Dekada ’70.”

Nora Aunor To Return in the Country and will Play the Wife of Emilio Aguinaldo!

The Superstar Ms. Nora Aunor is preparing for her great comeback in showbiz after gone for almost a decade. And she is set to portray the character of Maria Agoncillo, the second wife of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo! DZMM reporter Jobert Sucaldito via his radio showbiz talk show "Showbiz Mismo" confirmed the good news. Ate Guy already accepted the offer of playing the said role. Governor ER Ejercito who headed the said big movie project will also play the character of Emilio Aguinaldo! In the said film, Ate Guy will play a 76-year old second wife of Gen. Aguinaldo. So expect an aging look of the superstar in this exciting historical movie. Meanwhile, Ate Guy's daughter Matet De Leon even confirmed the return of the superstar.
